Trends and R&D opportunities for the security technology supply chain
June 15th, 2011
Rome, Italy
The security market has been growing dramatically over the last decades. It has been expanding in terms of services, products and research activities offered. Nowadays, the security market is a multi-facet domain that encompasses disparate areas, from the security of Critical infrastructure to the security of large events. Large Enterprises (LEs) as well as Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) seek and exploit opportunities that lay untaken on this growing market.
LEs, by their nature, cover a predominant role while SMEs have to face obstacles in entering the supply chain even though they are fully qualified to bring expertise and innovation in this market. This distance between LEs and SMEs is a hampering factor that hinders the potential benefits related to a joint collaboration between these enterprises.
Here, the OSMOSIS project, Overcoming Security Market Obstacles for SMEs Involvement in the technological Supply Chain come into play. the first OSMOSIS International workshop aimed first to show OSMOSIS project results, areas of activity and to foster collaboration between European LEs and SMEs on Security Research Topics.
